Math Thinking...

Why do we need to measure the area of a flat surface?  Comment below to tell us why and where we would use area to do something (Zealtiel - said a painter needs to know the area).

Brain BREAK!

We use brain breaks everyday as a way to transition from one subject to another.  It is a great time of non-academic thinking and a chance to work out some wiggles.  There are some great ones online, but we made up our own... If you are feeling a little tired, join us for the ICE CREAM FREEZE!

Math has gone to the turkeys...

Today we learned about symmetry by building turkeys...  I hope you like them as much as we did!

What's Cooking?

What better thing to write about than food!  Today we consumed recipes (some of my family favorites) and then wrote a recipe for our favorite food.  If you are not sure what to cook on Thursday, these look like some great dishes!

Today was the Thanksgiving Feast. It was great to see so many families share lunch with us!

Here is what a few said they were thankful for...

Madeline "my home, family and friends"

Jonathan "my friend Shervin"

Alex "that I can run fast"

Melanie "my brother and sister"

Aniyah "my teacher"

Kaylann "for my mom"

Ashley "for mommy and daddy"

Mrs. Johnson "my sweet class that hugs me every morning with an eager smile, the chance to work in a job I love, and my family that is healthy and happy...blessing abound"

Happy Thanksgiving!

Problem Solving

Thank you to all the parents that came to our Problem Solving meeting.  It was great to see so many parents dedicated to helping kids develop critical thinking skills.  For those who could not make it, we filmed the night.

As always, please visit with your teacher if you have any questions.

Lunch Bunch

Today was our first Lunch Bunch for the year!  Every few weeks, I will set a goal and students will work on that goal.  Today students were invited for showing great self control.  This was a fun time to be able to really visit with just a few kids.

Great job!

It's our DUTY!

Today we had the chance to excersie our RIGHT to vote.  Every student in Meadow Wood went to the poles.  Mrs. Lewis did a great job at making the library a real voting precinct.  Student learned that our vote is private and that we have a duty to express our desires for our leadership.

HIT the target!

This week we continued to work on adding and subtraction while using the signs to write a number sentence.  We played a great game Targe Addition.  Students went in turns to add numbers to the grid.  The person who hits the number wins.
