Smart little cookies!

Today we were able to thank a very special Grandmother!  Erin's Grandmother, Mrs. Sakolosky, has donated her Thursday mornings to help develop us as readers. We loved having her join our morning. We thanked her with hand written cookie notes and a special cookie jar ( that Erin think her Grandaddy will eat).

Speaking of Grandparents...Mr. Johnson and I welcomed a beautiful baby grandson to our family late Thursday.  Our oldest son and his wife welcomed little Walker. It's easy to say, it was LOVE at first sight.

Step Up Day!

Today was step up day for 1st grade!  Ask your student what they taught the upcoming 1st graders.

In the afternoon we visited 2nd grade and went on a scavenger hunt. Each student had to ask a teacher and a current 2nd grader a question.

Erin said, " I am even more excited about next year.

We are ready!

Intergrated Learning!

We have been integrating our learning...  A month ago we learned in reading how to ask good questions and what it means to "research".  We used our trip to the zoo to pick and animal to measure (putting math into action) and learn more from a field visit.  In reading and writing time we have used all kinds of resources to find information about our animal's habitat, eating habits, interesting facts, and their appearance.  Students used math time to recreate their measurements from the zoo.  Finally we are putting all the pieces together by using the "Show Me" App on the iPads to film our report.  Here are a few.  I will post more as they are complete.  I hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed making them!
