Week 1 and done...

We made it to the end of the first week! It was a great week. Here are a few things the kids liked about the week...

Sydney liked the playground.

Elija liked recess.

Caden liked fun fitness Friday

Chris said, "I like that we had have recess early" (I have to agree with this one - not so hot!

Isabella's favorite part was lunch.

Jake liked going to science.

Maggie is glad she met Keeley.

David said his favorite part was everything.

Today I had everyone make a "ticket" to get out of class. They had to write something they knew about greater than and less than and tell me their favorite part of the week. Reflection is very important in learning and I was very impressed with what they wrote. Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for a super week!

Putting the pieces together...

Today we used our writing lesson from yesterday to "put the pieces together". Everyone made a puzzle piece showing all the things we like. After the students found their match, they interviewed each other. Each partner presented the other student to the class. It was great to see how we are a like and how we are different.

First Day of Firsts...

Yesterday was a fabulous first day in First Grade. I loved meeting all the smiling faces and know that it is going to be a year to remember. Among the many first for students (like sitting in desk and making new friends), Cecilia lost her first tooth! This year we will be using some neat and new technology applications to share our learning. I hope you enjoy the xtranormal movie I made to get my class excited about the year. I can't wait to get the kids involved as we work to make a movie to educate parents at our curriculum night.

On your mark, get set,and go...

Wow, the summer days are coming to an end (if only the heat would end). I have had a wonderful restful summer with lots of time at the lake. We were lucky to have family visit, and I was able to really think about the new year. I have spent time working on aligning center work to be a creative reinforcement of skills. I have also worked on my Gifted and Talented certification. I am excited to be back in the swing of things and meet my new class!
