First Day of Firsts...

Yesterday was a fabulous first day in First Grade. I loved meeting all the smiling faces and know that it is going to be a year to remember. Among the many first for students (like sitting in desk and making new friends), Cecilia lost her first tooth! This year we will be using some neat and new technology applications to share our learning. I hope you enjoy the xtranormal movie I made to get my class excited about the year. I can't wait to get the kids involved as we work to make a movie to educate parents at our curriculum night.

On your mark, get set,and go...

Wow, the summer days are coming to an end (if only the heat would end). I have had a wonderful restful summer with lots of time at the lake. We were lucky to have family visit, and I was able to really think about the new year. I have spent time working on aligning center work to be a creative reinforcement of skills. I have also worked on my Gifted and Talented certification. I am excited to be back in the swing of things and meet my new class!

The seed cycle

We have been learning about the seed cycle. We spent some time this week disecting a seed to learn the different parts, and today we planeted our own been plants. As long as we remember to water them, we should be in good shape!

A little late, but here are some fun shots from the Zoo! We had a beautiful day full of learning and fun.

Everything Living!

Spring is in full bloom! We have tadpoles turning into frogs and yesterday received meal worms. The kids learned about their habitat and we will be keeping an observation journal to record their changes.

Telling Time!

Everybody got a time to be the hands on the clock. The taller person was the minute hand and the shorter person was the hour. ---Posted by Avery

NEW STUDENTS TO 1st GRADE!

Today we got some new friends! Our tadpoles arrived today and we are all very excited. We set up our tank and will be watching to see their development into frongs. Be sure to check out our blog as we post new pictures.
