Living and Nonliving???

Is a cloud living? That was the question that Elaina asked. With a little research and a review on what makes something living everyone had different ideas. Jack argued that a cloud is living because it drops rain. Avery said that a water hose gives water and it is not living. It was an interesting discussion - and I am not sure if Jack is convinced!

Welcome Back!

What a great day to be back at school! We had a great day of learning started by listening to all the fun from Spring Break Week. I hope you and your family were able to enjoy some rest and time together. My family went to Boston (yes all 5 of us!). We were able to see our oldest son's new life after moving just 7 months ago. We walked miles looking at all the history Boston has. I loved our time together, but was happy to see all the kids smiling faces this morning. It was a perfect day to be at Meadow Wood!

All Things Texas!

I am so proud of the job the kids have done on the play! They really represented the great state of Texas, and learned a few things on the way!

READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY!

Today is a special day for reading, besides being Dr. Seuss Birthday, it is Read Across America Day. We celebrated by having a VERY special guest reader. I was so excited that my dad was able to come in and share some of his time with our class. He read the book, "Just Me and My Dad" (which for me was great because I am still the biggest Daddy's girl around!). The book reminded me of many great fishing and canoe trips that I took with my dad as a little girl. The kids had great questions and he even dressed the part of the Dad. With fishing gear in tow - HE DID A GREAT JOB!

Dogs, Horses, and Cows...Eee Iii Eee Iii O!

Friday was a fun filled day full of excitement! We started the day with a visit from a real Musher and one of her sled dogs. The kids thought it was supper funny to see me in all the gear! I am amazed at what has to be done to run that race! Square Dancing is always one of my favorite (unfortunately my camera died - pictures will be coming soon thanks to Mrs. Schleinschok), and we finished out the crazy day with a visit to the milking cow. This was a great day of learning outside the walls of our classroom!

Technology, Fun, and Learning!

This has been a week of technology starts in our class. I have had kids all week using the computers to practice certain spelling patters. One group is making a digital short vowel scrap book. One group has used our questioning lessons to learn more about Tornadoes. They have produced a little video that I think you will enjoy and find informative.

I hope you have a wonder weekend and remember our Valentine Party is at 2:15 - all are welcome.

Hello again!

Wow! where did January go? We have been so busy that we have forgotten to make a post on the blog. I hope the new year has kicked off good for each of you. I know I was glad to be back in a routing and see my sweet kiddos again. The best part of January is the growth that we see. Reading and writing is happening with great care and attention to detail.

Here is what a few have said about the new year back at MWE...
Karime "I am glad to be back and see my friends"
Katie "Yea - I get a button on the front row!"
Andrew "I finally got my desk in a different spot"
Devon "Can we write all day?"

Bundle up tightly tomorrow is going to be another cold day (ask your student what kind of word tightly is...they will know it is an adverb!)
